The cross of Christ is a most despicable thing to imitators and hardened hearts. Nevertheless, Christ is their redemption as much as he is the world’s. The cross is the victory of Christ over sin, death, and the devil. The reception of this victory is forged in the resurrection. Christ delivers his victory of cross and empty tomb to us precisely where he promises. We are gathered to the cultus dei, the worship of God, by his own calling. We meet our Savior in the means of grace he sets out for us in Baptism and Eucharist. He gives us to Confess our sins in worship and Hear the Preached Word. The consummation of the age will see the collapse of all cults and godless culture. Until then, we live under God and his grace, through the mercy of his Son.
